Research

Dr Anthony Chambers is actively involved in research and clinical trials at the St Vincent’s Campus Research Precinct.  His main focus is on Breast Cancer research.

He has honorary appointments as an Associate Investigator at both the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and The Kinghorn Cancer Centre.  He collaborates closely with the Breast Cancer Research Group at these institutions.

Patients of the practice with Breast Cancer who are scheduled for surgery may be offered the opportunity to participate in research studies by allowing a small sample of their tumour to be used for research purposes.  These samples are stored at the Garvan Institute as part of the Breast Cancer Tumour Bank, and used for current and future research studies to try to find better treatments for breast cancer.  Patient written consent is always required before any tissue is used for research purposes.

Current research projects that Dr Chambers is involved with include the following:

  • Breast Cancer Tumour Bank
  • Breast Cancer Xenograft study
  • Breast Cancer Insulin Receptor study
